The Multidisciplinary Approaches to Sustainable BioEnergy PhD program incorporated cross-disciplinary teamwork, courses in multiple disciplines, and research projects that spanned at least two focus areas. The program ended on June 15, 2015 and fellowships are no longer available.
The four focus areas of this program were:
- Crop Sciences and Plant Biotechnology
- Biological, Chemical, and Thermal Biomass Conversion
- Product Engineering
- Environmental Assessment, Policy, and Economics

Progam Information
This was a comprehensive training program that incorporated cross-disciplinary teamwork, courses in multiple disciplines and research projects that spanned at least two focus areas.
Applications are no longer being accepted, but we highly encourage prospective graduate students in any field of science, mathematics, engineering, economics, and social science to send us correspondence so that we may assist applicants in placement with potential faculty members and funding for bioenergy education and research.
Interviews were conducted at the end of the program for MASB IGERT fellows to describe their experiences in the program.
